MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

Dear Owners,

I trust you are gearing up for a long weekend of fun events and activities. I look forward to seeing you around the community, especially for our inaugural cardboard boat and float races at Crystal Lake! Now for some exciting updates -

Hampton Lake Tomorrow

We wrapped up our community survey on August 27th with 78% of households participating. We truly value the time each of you took completing the survey. Our Strategic Planning Committee expects a report from our partner GGA within the next two weeks. We will share the overall results, the GGA report, and some important next steps at an Open Session on September 22nd at 6 PM in the Barn. Please register in the Hampton Lake App to attend. The reports and session recording will be distributed shortly thereafter.

Wishing Farewell to Chef Andy Ferrel

Executive Chef Andy Ferrel’s last day with Hampton Lake is fast approaching. Please join us in Backwater Bill’s from 4 PM to 5 PM on Friday, August 29th to wish him a special Happy Hour farewell. We’ll have cake and a photo collage of his time at the Lake to share. Then, on Chef Andy’s last day, Saturday, August 30th, he will be slow roasting a whole pig for our Labor Day Luau. We are so grateful for his many years of service!

Meet our NEW Executive Chef Scott Bodkin

Following an extensive search with dozens of qualified candidates, we have secured our next Executive Chef! Many thanks to our ad-hoc Committee of Staff, Board and F&B Committee Members, as well as, Members-at-large, who participated in the demonstration dinner/interview event. It was a spectacular culinary experience that we cannot wait for you to enjoy.

About Chef Scott

Chef Scott, a Kentucky boy at heart, started his career at the fabled Seelbach Hotel before coming to the Lowcountry over 15 years ago. His career has taken him through fine dining, high-end hotel service, ala carte, private clubs, and recently as the Corporate Chef for the Mothership Group (Local Pie, FISH Casual Coastal Seafood, and the South Carolina Yacht Club) where he assisted with the kitchen design, menu development, opening, and process improvements at each restaurant. His most recent Mothership project was Forrest Fire BBQ in Coligny Plaza where he adapted many of his grandmother’s recipes. Nearly everything was made in-house from scratch with brisket and pork butts cooking overnight for 15 to 17 hours.

Personally, Chef Scott lives in nearby Levy and has a 10-year-old son named Scotty and a 6-year-old daughter named Scarlett. He has such a passion for BBQ that he has his own trailered smoker where he hosts family and friends with homestyle meals.

Meet Chef Scott

Join us in the Barn at 5:30 PM on Thursday, September 4th for a very special Member Social to meet your neighbors and our New Executive Chef! Better yet, Chef Scott and the culinary team will be preparing complimentary small bites so you can get an early taste of what’s to come.

Project Nexus - Lakeside Capital Improvements and Repairs

Work has begun on our Lakeview Porch and will continue through the month of September and into early October. The renovation includes:

  • Stylish low-country inspired furnishings, fixtures and colors
  • An expansive new bi-directional pocket door to Lakeview
  • Heating and Air Conditioning System
  • Floor to ceiling windows and weather-proof doors
  • Flexible seating arrangements with standard setup for 30-40 individuals
  • Cleaned and resurfaced flooring and fireplaces
  • A storage room for furniture when the space is being used for banquets/buffets

Updated renderings of the space with the latest information from our interior designer will be distributed soon and posted in the Lakeview Lobby. This Porch will create the perfect anchor to Backwater Bill’s and the start of a common design thread throughout the Lakeside building complex.

Best,

 Adam Martin

General Manager/COO
