Backwater Bill's & Beer Garden Reopen this Week
Backwater Bill's reopens and resumes regular hours this Wednesday, January 7th for lunch from 11:30am to 3:00pm. They will also be open for dinner this Winter (January and February) starting Wednesday, January 7th from 4:30pm to 8:00pm Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The Beer Garden reopens Friday, January 9th. Winter hours for the Beer Garden will be Fridays and Saturdays, 12pm to 8pm and Sundays, 12pm to 7pm. We apologize for any inconvenience during this necessary refresh and look forward to serving you upon reopening!
2026 Slate of BOD Candidates
Four of the current board members’ terms expire in March of 2026. The term of office for those newly elected will be March 2026 to March 2028.
As outlined in Section 3.4 of the By-Laws, The HLCA Nominating Committee is responsible for recruiting and nominating candidates to fill the vacant positions. The Board of Director’s job description and application were emailed to members in November. There were six members who applied to take part in the interview process. Five members were interviewed, followed by one of the five removing their name from the process.
As a result, the Board of Directors Slate of Candidates will include (in alphabetical order):

The Nominating Committee would like to thank all those who took part in the process and is pleased to present these well-qualified candidates.
Please click here to read the candidates’ biographies along with written questions from the Nominating Committee with the candidate’s answers. A “Meet the Candidates” session will be held to give members the opportunity to better understand the candidates’ views on key issues and priorities. This event will begin with an informal gathering of about 30 minutes, followed by prepared remarks from each candidate. There will also be a Q&A session. Afterwards, there will be additional time for members to informally speak with the candidates. The prepared remarks and Q&A will be videotaped for anyone who can’t attend the event, or wishes to review it at a later time.

Voting will occur a month earlier than in previous years. Voting will run from 2/1/26-2/20/26. More information on voting will be emailed as the date gets closer.
